The land of Umbra has always been dark and gloomy. Native shadow people subsist through the help of magical fireflies, mystical and noble creatures that radiate light and vitality. These fireflies are the only source of hope for the struggling shadows; only through the fireflies’ light can the shadows exist and see themselves.

While Umbra has always been dark and gloomy, it was once peaceful and prosperous. There was an abundance of magic fireflies, and shadows were free to roam around wherever they pleased without the danger of losing their identity.

Not too long ago, a shadow named Penumbra became power-hungry and revolted against the peace of the cosmos. Penumbra consumed all the fireflies he could, and slowly transformed into a light and shadow hybrid with the power to summon intense light concentrations, too strong for the shadows to handle.

The shadow tribes and fireflies were in danger of extinction. The shadow tribes united to bring back balance and peace to the cosmos. There was a great battle; untold shadow tribesmen perished, but with the help of the magic fireflies, they finally claimed victory.

Penumbra slunk off into the gloom... or so the rumors go.

You are the chieftain for your shadow tribe, responsible for its survival and wellbeing. There is much rebuilding to do, so when- if- Penumbra strikes again, your tribe will be capable of holding its own.

However, you are not the only shadow chieftain in this world; tribes have grown apart and formed unique identities and strengths to thrive in the aftermath of the Great Battle. Word is that some tribes have sworn allegiance to Penumbra... The peace and balance of the cosmos is in your hands!
